A hidden gem—but not a café or restaurant. So, what is it?
Nestled within the IKOPIN residential area in Jatinangor, this field had been long forgotten—neglected for about two years. Once upon a time, it was a lively space where locals exercised together, with morning aerobics for the mothers and children playing soccer.
However, the field became buried under heaps of construction debris, making it unusable for its previous activities.
Seeing this, a group of Bandung Institute Technology’s first-years decided to make this field the focus of their Reinovasi project, aiming to create a tangible impact that the local community could directly feel.
So, what did they do?
- First, clear the debris!
- Then, plant lots of grass.
- Add cheerful murals!

Through this renovation, numerous interactions and connections blossomed with the local residents. The strong sense of community became evident through their support and participation.
The final result?
A revitalized space featuring a volleyball court, paranet area, and a table tennis building. Today, the field is more than just a public space—it holds meaning, memories, and joy for the people who use it.
Public space is not just a location. It carries a valuable sense of community and shared experience.
